What happens at your appointment

Dr Godara will assess your lips in relation to the rest of your face, agree the look you want, and check your medical history. Numbing cream and filler containing local anaesthetic keep treatment comfortable. It takes about 30 minutes. Many people prefer to build volume gradually over more than one session.

Results and how long they last

Lips are often swollen for the first few days, so the final result is seen at about two weeks. Lip filler typically lasts around six to twelve months.

Possible side effects and risks

• Swelling, tenderness and bruising, usually settling within a week or two
• Small lumps, which usually settle or can be treated
• A cold sore flare, if you are prone to them. Please tell us before treatment
• Rarely, filler can block a blood vessel, which needs urgent treatment

Not if treatment is planned carefully. Dr Godara uses small amounts and will advise against anything that would look out of proportion.
