Anti-wrinkle Treatment in Dún Laoghaire

Lines on the forehead, between the brows and around the eyes (crow's feet) are caused by repeated muscle movement. Anti-wrinkle treatment relaxes selected muscles to soften these lines, while keeping your natural expression.

This treatment uses a prescription-only medicine, so it can only be offered after a face-to-face consultation in which Dr Godara assesses whether it is appropriate for you.

Every aesthetic treatment starts with a consultation with Dr Godara (€100, redeemable against treatment). You are never asked to decide on the day, and every treatment includes a follow-up review at no extra cost.

Who it may suit

It is most often used for frown lines, forehead lines and crow's feet. It works best on lines caused by movement. Deep lines that are visible at rest may soften but not disappear, and other treatments may suit them better.

What happens at your appointment

Dr Godara will look at how your face moves, discuss what you would like to change and check your medical history. If treatment is appropriate, a very fine needle is used to place small amounts into the chosen muscles. It takes around 15 minutes and most people find it only mildly uncomfortable.

Results and how long they last

Results start to show after a few days and are fully visible at about two weeks, when you are offered a review. The effect usually lasts around three to four months, then gradually wears off.

Possible side effects

  • Redness, small bumps or bruising where the needle went in
  • A mild headache for a day or two
  • Uneven results, which can often be adjusted at your review
  • Rarely, a temporary drooping of the eyelid or brow

When it may not be suitable

It is not offered during pregnancy or breastfeeding, if you have certain nerve or muscle conditions, or if you take certain medicines. Dr Godara will check this at your consultation.

Common questions

Will I still be able to move my face?
Yes. The aim is to soften lines, not to freeze your expression.
Is there any downtime?
Most people return to normal activities straight away. You will be asked to avoid strenuous exercise, lying flat and rubbing the area for the rest of the day.
